March 26, 2008

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's men's golf team will travel to San Luis Obispo, Calif., this week to compete in the seventh annual Cal Poly Men's Intercollegiate Tournament. The first two rounds will be played on Thursday, March 27, and the final round will be on Friday, March 28.

The 54-hole tournament will be held at the Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande, Calif. The 6,803-yard course is a par-72, and is listed as one of Golf Digest's best places to play.

The 15-team field consists of Cal Poly, Birmingham Southern, British Columbia, Cal State Bakersfield, Cal State Northridge, Cal State Stanislaus, Cal State San Marcos, Claremont-McKenna, South Carolina Upstate, Sacramento State, Idaho State, UC Riverside, UCLA (blue team), Utah Valley State and Utah State. Cal Poly is the defending champion shooting a two-over par 866 last year.

Competing for the Aggies will be senior Jeremy Pack, juniors Devin Daniels, Tyler Labrum, Tyler Munson and Alex Putnam, and freshman Toph Peterson. The Aggies are coming off a 13th place finish at the Braveheart Invitational, which was held earlier this month.

Daniels has led Utah State this season with a scoring average of 76.96 and looks to improve on his 41st place finish in the Braveheart Invitational. Overall, Daniels has been Utah State's top finisher in four of the six tournaments the team has competed in.
