Academic all-WAC (2006)
Quickly: Originally came to USU as a defensive back, but saw time at wide receiver in 2005 and has stayed there ever since... Enters the fall listed as a starter at one of the receiver spots. 2006 (So.): Started seven games during the year and played several games with a broken hand... Missed the Louisiana Tech and Hawai'i games with the injury before returning for the final three contests... Tied for second on the team with 27 receptions for 238 yards... Had one touchdown reception, catching a four-yarder for a score against New Mexico State... Best games were seven receptions for 72 yards at San Jose State and six for 56 vs. Idaho... Finished the year with a four-catch, 41-yard, one-touchdown performance against New Mexico State... Also played on special teams and had two tackles. 2005 (Fr.): Played in 10 games as a wide receiver and participated only on special teams in the season opener at Utah... Saw action as a backup wide receiver, but did not record any receptions... Was credited with five tackles while playing on special teams. 2004 (RS): Redshirted his first year at USU as he earned defensive scout team MVP honors. High School: A second-team all-state selection as a tight end in 2003... Also earned first-team all-state basketball honors as a junior... Recorded 42 receptions for 700 yards and 14 touchdowns as a senior... On the national honor roll in high school as well as in Who's Who in America. Personal: Born April 6, 1986 in Salt Lake City, Utah... Son of Lynn Wallin and Orlando Nelson... Has one sister... Father played football at Utah State in 1973, while his uncles Ken and Claude played at Utah State in the 1970s... His father and both uncles also played in the NFL... Plans to major in business... Hobbies include playing basketball and riding four-wheelers. |
