Jaycee Carroll Named America First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week

LOGAN, Utah - Jaycee Carroll was named the America First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week, which is voted on by a state media panel, for the period ending on Sunday, Dec. 2. Carroll, a senior guard from Evanston, Wyo., scored a game-high 25 points, including 17 in the second-half, to lead Utah State to a come-from-behind 71-65 win against Santa Clara in Logan Saturday night. Carroll, who added three rebounds and two assists in the game, was 9-of-16 from the field, 4-of-7 from three-point range and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. During the contest, Carroll moved into third-place on USU's all-time scoring list with 1,920 points and tied Tony Brown (1999-2003) for first all-time in school history with 283 made three-pointers. Carroll and the Aggies head to Salt Lake City to take on the University of Utah on Wednesday Dec. 5. Tip off will be at 8 p.m. in the Huntsman Center. Nominees from other sports include: WOMEN'S BASKETBALL - Senior forward Jamelah Brown (Phoenix, Ariz.) helped Utah State record a 1-1 record last week, including a 74-55 win at Eastern Washington on Sunday, the team's first victory of the season. Against the Eagles, Brown scored a season-high 16 points as she was 5-of-7 from the field and a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line. Earlier in the week, Brown scored 12 points and added a season-high eight rebounds in a 69-60 loss at Idaho State.
