Seth Wold Named WAC Cross Country Men's Athlete Of The Week For Second Time This Fall

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State cross country runner Seth Wold has been named the Western Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week for the second time this fall as it was announced by the league office on Monday.

Wold was also named the America First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week, which is voted on by a state media panel, for the period ending on Sunday, Oct 14.

Wold, a junior from Highland, Utah, placed 53rd out of 273 runners with a time of 24:06 in the eight-kilometer race at the Pre-Nationals meet held in Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday. Wold, who finished 112th in the same event last year with a time of 24:56, helped Utah State place 29th out of 40 teams.

Wold also won WAC cross country athlete of the week honors after finishing first at the Utah State Open.

The Aggies next action will be in the WAC Championships hosted by Utah State on Oct 27 at 9 a.m. at the American West Heritage Center.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY - Senior Amy Egan (Greensburg, Pa.) placed 91st out of 259 runners with a time of 21:37 in the six-kilometer race at the Pre-Nationals meet held in Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday as she helped Utah State finish 27th out of 38 teams. Egan improved her time by 23 seconds from last year's race.

MEN'S TENNIS - Sophomore Oscar Ericsson (Stockholm, Sweden) recorded a 2-1 record in singles action at the Utah Invitational during the weekend. He began the tournament with straight set wins against Weber State's Nick Plum (6-1, 6-4) and BYU's Tom Young (7-5, 6-4), before losing to BYU's Daniel Hwang (6-2, 6-1) in the quarterfinals. Ericsson also teamed with freshman Jakob Asplund in doubles play and the duo recorded a 1-1 record with an 8-4 win in the round of 16, before losing 8-1 in the quarterfinals.

SOCCER - Freshman forward Lauren Hansen (Camano Island, Wash.) scored two goals within a two-minute span in Utah State's 4-0 Western Athletic Conference win at Idaho in both teams league opener on Friday. She then attempted four shots in USU's 2-1 loss against Boise State on Sunday.

VOLLEYBALL - Sophomore middle blocker Danielle Taylor (Springville, Utah) recorded nine kills and hit .263 (9-4-19) in Utah State's three-game loss at Nevada on Saturday. She also had six block assists and two digs in the match.
